Previous League affiliations for Norwalk before joining the Northern Ohio League in 1945.

 

Little Big 6, 7, 5, 4    (1912-44)

Before the formation of the present Northern Ohio League, which formed in 1945, Norwalk High School competed in the conference which was called the Little Big 6.  It represented the six schools in the conference, and the number then grew to seven teams, before dwindling down to five teams, and then finishing with just four teams. Here is a list of the schools in the conference, and the years they were considered members:

 

             Norwalk (1911-44)

             Bellevue (1912-44)

             Tiffin Columbian (1927-33)

             Willard (1927-44)

             Elyria (1911-26)

             Fremont Ross (1912-33)

             Lorain (1911-26)

             Oberlin (1921-36)

             Port Clinton (1934-44)

             Sandusky (1911-33)

       1930:  Norwalk Little Big Seven (3-0)

       1937:  Norwalk Little Big Four (3-0)

       1940:  Norwalk Little Big Four (2-0-1)**

Trucker Fact: Four of the 10 schools that made up the Little Big Conference's would join the Northern Ohio League, Bellevue, Willard, Tiffin Columbian, and Norwalk.

 

The Northern Ohio League was the longest running conference in the state that shared the same members, until 2002 when charter member Bucyrus left the league, and was replaced by Fostoria.
