The Truckers reached the end zone five times during the scrimmage, while yielding four touchdowns to the Eagles. Norwalk will have a live one-half scrimmage Friday Aug 18th vs. Bucyrus Wynford at 6pm at Whitney Field in Norwalk.

NORWALK- Five Norwalk touchdowns highlighted the day, as the 2006 football season nears for the Norwalk High School football team. After a little over a week of 2-a-day camp, the Truckers were finally able to go full-hitting against an opponent rather than themselves. For second-year head coach Jeff Cole, it was a good opportunity to see some things that aren't always visible in practice.

"We had some good areas and some bad areas," Cole said. "We have some things to work on and some things we thought we did some things well, but I think everybody is in that situation right now. We were in pretty good position, I thought we pass protected well and our receivers caught the ball well. For the most part we kept the penalties under control."

But that wasn't to say there were still some things to work on.

"I thought defensively we were in good position but we need to work on our tackling," he said. "We were right there, and on numerous times we were shed or didn't have good form, or we were out of position. Our tackling needs some work. We were in the right spots, but we need to finish those off. We need to sustain our blocking up front a little more. But that is why we have these scrimmages, to work on those types of things and get better."

As for every area team, scrimmages mostly serve the purpose of evaluating what your team can do.

"We want to evaluate where we're at and where we stack up," Cole said. "This offers us something you can't simulate in practice, so we have to use it to our advantage."
